I tried to extract from datacom using DBUTLTY and the flat file has packed
fields in it. After searching the internet, I found that
CA suggests using EZtrieve to convert, IBM has a utility in OS/2 CICS to
convert, Microfocus Cobol and Realia have utilities too.
Unfortunately, we don't have any of those tools here. My next attempt will be
to use FileAid or Sort and probably give up and just write
an Ideal program for every singe table that has packed fields.
I bet there has already been a discussion of this issue here. Has anybody done
this before? Did you have to write an Ideal program for each table or is there
a way to use DBUTLTY to unpack those numbers?
