  • 1.  CA Tip: Translation tables need to appear in pairs

    Posted Sep 20, 2013 09:15 AM
    When using transfer tables during a transfer you may specify CODETABL=<***> where <***> can be any combination of characters. This allows you to use a specific transfer table for a transfer and frees you from the restriction of one transfer table for all transfers.
    But when you code CODETABL=<***> you need to provide both tables: the "<***>atoe.tab" for transfers from ASCII to EBCDIC and "<***>etoa.tab" for transfers from EBCDIC to ASCII. If one of both tables is missing the transfer is not executed and the error message
    [font=Courier New]XCOMN0456E Cannot open EBCDIC-ASCII translation file.[font]
    or
    [font=Courier New]XCOMN0457E Cannot open ASCII-EBCDIC translation file.[font]
    respectively is displayed instead.
