    How do you handle INACTIVE tasks in OPSMVS SSM after completion of an IPL?  We status gets UNKNOWN_DOWN.

    Well, your resource is Inactive which means Stateman isn't going to do anything with it. It won't monitor its state and will not issue any start or stop commands for. It is basically like Stateman doesn't know it exists. I don't know of anything that you would want to do except let it sit there as it really isn't hurting anything unless there is more to the story.

    Hello Randy,

     

    What Travi is sharing in this Communities post is correct. SM is in active mode but the resource is in inactive mode.

    We are basically not monitoring changes in the current and desired states for your resource.

    You still can use the IPL_STATE to set a desired status in the RDF STCTBL table entry for the resource. This might be causing it to be set to DOWN Randy.

    You can track changes to this resource as long as you have the SSMAUDIT parameter set to yes so you can see messaged are posted as to what is setting this value

    But other than this for inactive resources is ok SSM to simply ignore them.
