Migration from DB2 to IDMS

By Steve Rundle posted 12-05-2014 08:53 AM

Listened to a fascinating session given by a team* in Australia who have migrated an application from DB2 to IDMS.

It show's it's possible (and easy) and it's not all one way traffic!)

It was presented via a recorded webex but the team were available for questions in Oz on a speakerphone. (It's midnight down there,)

This is a great story, and perfect for this IUA Technical Conference.

I wrote few years ago an ISPF application, which generates the DMCl and AREA definitions from the DB2 catalog data, calculates the area size etc. for the physial and logical definitions in IDMS. Also jobs are automatically generated to precompile the DB2 programs with the IDMS precompiler.

If somebody is interested, you can contact me.

This case should be publicized so that other companies can also be encouraged to make this migration.
