Meet CA Support Engineer for CA IDMS: Ian Hill

Ian Hill Facebook.jpgIan Hill is originally from Australia and has worked for CA in Denmark for over 24 years. He currently supports CA IDMS. Just before his career launched with CA, Ian met his wife and wanted to move to Denmark.


“I had been working at an IDMS site in Melbourne for six years and IDMS had just been bought by CA in 1990. So the Danish office needed some IDMS knowledge and hired me. Guess it was a bit of good timing. Never dreamed I’d stay at CA (or even just in Denmark) for so long.”


sendFax.jpgIan became a support engineer after attending Melbourne University.


"Support has become unrecognizable from the 90’s. When I started we were three people working on IDMS in tiny Denmark alone. Now we are a team of 10 supporting the whole world. Also fondly remember the hours spent by the fax machine.”


He says tools like CA Communities now allow the useful, and timely, exchange of information with how other clients use the product.


“Not everything finds its way into manuals. There is a lot of practical info also available in our Knowledge Documents. This is becoming even more important as we are often seeing the experienced people disappearing from client sites and those replacing them need more ‘how to’ stuff.”


Outside of work Ian loves to watch Australian Football. “I Missed it for many years before recently being able to watch live internet streaming of games from home.” He also loves traveling around with his beautiful wife!
