In part 4, more detail is shared about an enhanced data discovery and inventory feature within Intel SCS 7.1. This enhanced feature is called "SystemDiscovery". It will work on all versions of Intel AMT to help gather specific capabilities of the platform. The utility will run on non-IntelAMT systems yet the data collected will be minimal.
The video also shows how to collect the custom data and utilize within an Altiris 7.x environment
This video provides a better insight to the "Environment Assessment Part 2" article posted earlier this year.

With the release of Intel SCS 8 (see http://www.intel.com/go/scs), the Deployment Guide also available at that URL\website mentions discovery of Intel AMT. Two important updates for your awareness
First - the format of the XML output when running ACUconfig SystemDiscovery. More data is captured and the formatting has changed. This will require adjustments for Altiris Custom Inventory data class and collection.
Second - Although not highlighted in the Deployment Guide, a new option exists and is referenced in the Intel SCS 8 User Guide. This option - /ReportToRCS - directs the ACUconfig application to send the SystemDiscovery data to the RCS if installed\running in database mode. For Intel SCS 8 - this will ONLY work if Intel AMT is already configured. Intel SCS developers are aware of this limitation as some customers would like to collect Intel AMT SystemDiscovery data regardless of the current configuration state. That said - if the /ReportToRCS feature works for you, there may be no reason to build\collect custom inventory. Instead - focus on a custom report which pulls data from SymantecCMDB and IntelAMT databases
