VMfusion6から12へ レジューム出来ず。

VMfusion6を使ってました。この度Macを数年ぶりに更新したため、fusionも12へアップグレード

今まで使っていたwin XPがレジュームしません。

試しに新規➜既存の仮想マシンから再構築しようとしても、そもそもvmwarevmファイルが選択出来ません

古すぎて、ダメなのでしょうか？？

PCはM1Mac mini　OSは11.1BigSur

続報です。

試しに新規OSで始めようかと思い、win10ホームを入れてみましたら

やはり同様にパワーオンに失敗しましたという表示が出ます。

仮想マシンには表示されますし、vmxファイルは出来ているようです。

ですがスタートすらしません

根本的に何か別な設定が必要なのでしょうか？

macOSとFusionのアップデートや、再インストールでは、セキュリティの許可設定の再設定が必要になることが多いと思います。
そこで、macOSの「システム環境設定」にある「セキュリティとプライバシー」→「一般」に、
「許可」のようなボタンが出ていないか（Fusion で何かブロックされていないか）確認してみるとよいと思いました。

※手元のMacはBig Surではないので、もしかしたら「セキュリティとプライバシー」の設定場所が少し異なるかもしれません。

 

また、仮想マシン起動時の問題がログファイルに出力されているかもしれません。
ターミナルなどから、「仮想マシン名.vmwarevm」（vmxファイルと同じディレクトリ）の配下にある
vmware.logファイル（ローテーションされると vmware-数字.log）を確認すると、原因となるエラー内容が分かるかもしれないと思いました。

セキュリティ関係確認しましたが、そのような許可ボタンは表示されてませんでした。

（違うアプリの許可ボタンが表示されていたので、Big Surでも同じだと思いました）

また、プライバシータグにてフルディスクアクセスなど、ᏙMfusionにチェックが入っていなかったので、入れてみましたが、解決しませんでした。

今新規にwin10の構築をやってみているのですが、やはり同じ症状で、パワーオンに失敗しました、と先に進めません。

アドバイス通り、ログファイル確認しようと思いましたら、そもそもログファイルすら作成されてませんでした。

つまり、仮想フォルダにファイルはできますが、それが開けないため、全く先に進まないという状態です。

何か根本的な見落としがあるのだろうか・・・

Fusion 12 cannot run Intel x86/x64 VMs on Apple macOS running on Apple M1 chip.

Thank you reply.

But I hard Fusion 12 can run for Big Sur OS.

So it can be run application, but it cannot run new VMfile.

Maybe it's still incomplete?

I have to wait new version?

I don't work for VMware and I don't know what the plans of VMware with regards to running VMs on M1 chip. It is a complex problem as M1 chip and Intel chip are different architectures. It also depends on what Apple wants to do.

The problem you encounter is because you have a Mac mini with M1 chip.

If the Mac hardware still using Intel CPU, you should be able to run XP or Windows 10 VMs (or other Intel x86/x64 OS VMs) using Fusion 12 with Big Sur as host OS.

Starting with Fusion 12, VMware uses the Apple macOS hypervisor APIs. Depending on your usage, there could be a slower performance compared to Fusion 11.x (or even older versions).

I have to correct myself and make some things a bit more clear.

Fusion 12 will use Apple hypervisor APIs when it detects the host OS is Big Sur.
Fusion 12 will still use Intel VT-x calls using the kernel extensions (kext) model when it detects the host OS is Catalina.
Apple is deprecating the use of kext and thus VMware has moved to use the Apple hypervisor API for Big Sur host OS.
Fusion 12 will run on Apple hardware with Intel CPU that is supported for Catalina and Big Sur; so older Intel-based Mac hardware will not be able to run Fusion 12.
