    Hello all,

Can SMP 8.5 be installed onto Server 2019, and if not, when will it be able to?

    Thanks in advance, SK.

    Hi SK,

installation of ITMS 8.5 on Windows Server 2019 is not supported.

I would expect Windows Server 2019 support in one of Release Updates for 8.5 but don't have specific RU number at this moment.

    Hi Dmitri,

This is a real shame as I know some customers that have a license agreement with Microsoft which only allows them to use the latest OS release when they build new clients or servers, which will obviously cause their projects to be postponed until it is supported.

It would be great to hear from product management when this support will be available.

    Hi Gavin,

Looks like the question here is more around Windows Server 2019 support for hosting the Notification Server rather than SQL version, though I am curious about your last post. According to Symantec's current set of posted Platform Support Matrix, both Windows Server 2019 and Microsoft SQL Server 2019 are not listed as supported for Notification Server OS and database.

Symantec ITMS Platform Support Matrix: https://symwisedownload.symantec.com/resources/sites/SYMWISE/content/live/TUTORIALS/9000/HOWTO9965/en_US/ITMS_PlatformSupportMatrix_7x_8x.pdf?__gda__=1563492064_c25617657adb789639f8e0db118c1b93

For clarity, are you saying that SQL Server 2019 is now supported to host the Symantec CMDB? If so, can Symantec please have the documentation updated to reflect this support?

I'm also curious to know when Windows Server 2019 will be supported for hosting the Notification Server. Is there an ETA from Product Management on that? We have several customers asking both of these questions, and currently we do not recommend moving to this under officially supported and documented as supported by Symantec.

    Thanks!

    BP

As far as I know Microsoft SQL Server 2019 is not even released by Microsoft yet (Community technology preview is currently available).

Windows Server 2019 is currently supported for management (you can install Symantec Management Agent there) but not for hosting the Notification Server.

Are there any updates yet around this to allow support for Server 2019 and the notification server?

There are no updates yet. You can subcribe to the Support Matrix document (HOWTO9965) to get an email notification when it is updated. The Notification and Workflow Server section is in table 1-1, and the SQL Server section is in table 1-3.

This is really dissapointing as it is placing SMP at a real disadvantage compared to its competitors, especially for those customers that have to use the latest OS when building new servers due to their Microsoft agreements.
