Jan 17, 2018 05:42 PM

This error can happen when trying to install PIM 12.8x on RHEL system and the /etc/redhat-release cannot be found by the installation process. The PIM installation uses this file when trying to load the kernel module. If it is not found you may see error as below:

ERROR: Could not find specific kernel module SEOS_syscall.00UNKNOWN86_64.MP.ko
Please refer to the log file for more information
Could not find seos.ini. Set __SEOS__ and try again.
ERROR: Could not find CA ControlMinder installation

Please make sure that the OS file is there and in the correct location, /etc/redhat-release.

Additional Note: running the following commands can also help to determine this and why correct seos kernel module is not found:

# cd /ACDir/lbin
# ./getvar.sh -env OSTCB OSMD OSMP OS OSMIN OSMAJ OSMAJMIN OSVER OSTAR MACHINE ENDIAN RANLIB OSMIC OSSTOP

and

# /bin/sh -x SEOS_load
