Introduction:

You might have found yourself into a permission-related issue when trying to acknowledge or assign alarms from UMP. The problem happens regardless of the user account being used (like administrator) and regardless of the permissions you have in your ACL(s).

The issue is not experienced when working in Infrastructure Manager.

Background:

The exact error received is the following:

(6) permission denied, Received status (6) on response (for sendRcv) for cmd = 'close_alarms'

Instructions:

To fix the error and be able to acknowledge or assign alarms, these are the steps that need to be carried out:

- Go to IM.

- Access "Security", "Probe Administration".

- You should see there an entry for the nas and trellis probes (respectively) with "Access" equal to "Admin" and "IP" equals to "*". If they are missing or they don't reflect the level described, please, adjust them.

- Restart Primary Hub and UMP Hub and the problem should be fixed.
