We had a few questions from the session that required follow up, and here are the answers:

Q: Do pingable devices count against the PM license count?

A: No, the license counts manageable devices only.

Q: Can you send a notification email with the detailed results of a discovery?
A: No, the discovery profile does not include an email notification option and the Administrative Events for the Data Aggregator do not include discovery. Some of the Data Collection event sub-types provide information about establishing contact and management of devices (a result of discovery) and can be configured to produce notifications. For more information, see the documentation:

Q: Are you able to get first, last, and most recent discovery time for a device via REST or OpenAPI?

A: There are several options available to get information about discovery, but not an exact fit for what the question asked for:

  • CreateTime is a device attribute available through the OpenAPI, which would indicate the time of the first discovery for the device.
  • Information about discovery instances is available through REST, the documentation is available at the following endpoint: http://DAhost:8581/rest/discoveryinstances/documentation
