Dear CA Customer:
The purpose of this advisory is to inform you of changes to our support for CA Client Automation Patch Management Windows Patch Content. Specifically, the changes are related to our Windows Traditional FULL / DELTA Rollups and IntelliRollups support. This advisory is in continuation to the one published on 08-Sep-2016 detailing the impact to Windows Patch Content due to the recent changes to Windows Servicing announced by Microsoft. Please read the information provided below in order to understand the change and its impact.
PRODUCT(S) AFFECTED: CA Client Automation RELEASE: 12.8 and Above
CHANGE DESCRIPTION:
Starting October 2016, Microsoft plans to introduce “Monthly Rollups” and “Security Only Updates” for Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 Gold, Windows 8.1 Gold and Windows Server 2012 R2 Gold platforms. Please refer to this blog post for an explanation of what each update type means. Individual KBs will no longer be available for the affected platforms.
Accordingly, for the above mentioned platforms, we will be supporting “Security Only Updates” effective October 2016. To avoid any disruption to our customers who are using CA provided Rollups, the “Security Only Updates” will be included in the Traditional FULL / DELTA Rollups and IntelliRollups. Other security patches (like .NET Framework) which are released outside the scope of “Security Only Updates” will also be included in the Rollups. The Traditional FULL Rollups and IntelliRollups will continue to be cumulative and customers can use them in similar manner as before.
Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 platforms are not affected and the Traditional FULL / DELTA Rollups bundled with individual KBs will continue to be available for these platforms. Office is also not affected and the Traditional FULL / DELTA Rollups and IntelliRollups bundled with individual KBs will continue to be available for Office updates.
Few important factors like the availability of all types of updates, the timing of availability etc., are still unclear. These factors influence the testing scenarios and the time it takes to publish the Rollups. So, please be advised that no publication goals for Windows Rollups will be applicable for the months of Oct’16 and Nov’16. Our supported content and publication goals document is updated for the same. We will revise our publication goals post Nov’16.
Any further changes in the plan and our support will be communicated accordingly.

CA FULL Rollups, DELTA Rollups and IntelliRollups for Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows server 2012 Gold, Windows 8.1 Gold and Windows Server 2012 R2 Gold.
