Our team has been tasked with monitoring possibly upwards of 2000+ printers in our environment...all connected to windows PC's.
The documentation for the printer probe is fair...but still a little vague. All we want is an alarm if the printer is offline\disconnected. The idea is to simply make sure that there is a local (USB\LPT) printer attached and available...with an alarm if it is not. We do not care about job or queue info. Also, we only need this alarm every 24 hours...and QOS data might be a plus. There will be a process in place for our Operators to peruse the alerts through the day and address the systems with printers not attached or online.
Due the vast array of printer names, ports, and manufacturers, we would also like a way to deploy (through a super pkg) default settings for any local printer that is found that would provide the above alarms.
Ideas on how to configure the specifics of the probe to accomplish this?
