We are considering use of Notification Services on all our jobs for failures and certain alarms (we currently use custom scripting for that purpose). We have approximately 4000 jobs. Will this notification activity put a additional load on the system, affecting it's performance?

Thanks

There should not be an impact in performance as the notification is quick and seamless. Notifications via SNMP and email are a one and done type activity. If the notification fails for some reason, we don't retry it. If this does not answer your question, I'll suggest opening a case with Support. You should provide additional details with respect to what "Notification Services" refers to and what service you are using for said notifications.

Thank You,
Steve

Hi Corrie,

There are specific job attributes that you can utilize in your job definitions to notify on job failures. Have a look at this KB Article which provides details on How To Configure Templates for WAAE Email Notifications. Also have a look at the Common Job Attributes that are available within AutoSys job definitions, paying specific attention to notification_* attributes.

Hope this helps!

You can also generate SNMP alerts to forward to your SNMP manager for incident generation. See the Alarms section of the documentation for listing of available alarms that you can notify on.

Hi Corrie,

I would not recommend that you start using the notification services that were part of the Unicenter Notification Services.  The reason being is that they were removed in the 12.0.  If you are referring to sending emails, which uses the same setting, then it does not require a lot of additional CPU|memory.

Regards,
Mike

We are running version 12.0.01 on Linux, so am I correct in assuming that Unicenter Notification Services is not a factor?
