If we want to update a probe on a server to the latest version, is there a risk of loosing current configs?

Hello,

I recently upgraded UIM to the latest version. I wanted push the latest probes to all robots.

Would pushing latest probe to the robots cause issues with the configs?

For eg:
cdm probe, if I push the latest probe to the server will that cause the thresholds to change?

vmware probe - Would it have any issues if I set it to latest version?

Thanks,
Abhimanue

Generally speaking there's no risk of losing the existing configuration.

There are a handful of situations where configurations can become damaged - especially if the host drive is full for instance because UIM doesn't check for there being enough free space for the updated configuration file and so it will wind up truncating.

There also seems to be a race condition in updating probes that cause a robot restart (hub, controller, spooler, hdb) where either the probe hasn't yet stopped and so the new files can't replace the old or that the restart of the controller terminates the install process before it has had a chance to copy all files into place. You can expect to see maybe one in a hundred hub updates on Windows fail this way.

Otherwise the probe update mingles it's required configuration changes with the existing configuration file.
