  • 1.  Affects the latency result of a testhost from where it is performed by Spectrum1, another Spectrum2

    Posted Mar 14, 2023 03:20 PM

    Good morning Team Broadcom spectrum.

I have two Spectrum environments in different places I use them for ICMP testhosts, my tests are a device A and another device B, I require their latency time, however I am seeing that the latency times are different in each SpectroServer, I am using the Extended Path Location configuration, does it affect the fact that the SpectroServers are in two different places? Does the geography of the SpectroServers affect? Do I have to gather the two SpectroServers in the same location so that they give me the same latency time for my tests? TestHost?

Since the Spectrum1 is in another location, and the spectrum2 we have it in a different place but we have the same testhost, but the latency time results are different.

    Thank you.

    Hi Eduardo,

The Source will affect the Response time.

    How about Silvio?

Thank you for your answer, I understand what you are telling me, my question is if I have a SpectroServer "Testhosts A" which is the one that performs the tests on the devices with their source/destination, with the "Extended Path Location" configuration and I have another SpectroServer "Testhost B" that performs the same test action to the same Source/destination devices, however the response times and latency times of SS A, with SSB, are not the same, my question is what should I do to have the same response times and latency times? I have this doubt as to whether it is possible to have a backup Spectroserver in case the productive Spectroserver goes down, but having the same response times and latency with the tests. it's possible?

    Hi Eduardo,

The traceroute is a tool from the Linux Operating System. You will need to engage the Linux administrator to look into this.

    Thanks,
    Silvio

Extended Path test, is just a pseudo-verification, as it cannot actually perform the calculation using a single request. One ICMP request is sent to Node1, the value is stored, another one is sent to Node2. The 2 results are subtracted. It obvious you'll not get 2 values the same, no matter how many times you try, even on only one SpectroServer.
