    Hi all,

How to enable ping test using spectrum.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Ram,

IPSLA tests can be performed in 2 ways with Spectrum

Use the Service Performance Manager module for both the ways

    First way:

    1. Using SPM in Spectrum create the tests on the device

    2. Create the IPSLA tests on the device and discover them in Spectrum using SPM.

Have a look at the SPM guide for more information

    Hi kalyan,

For TCP test RTM is the right option to select ?

I can’t get the right latency of setting the thresholds .Actually I have 300ms in ehealth.

Now I am trying to configure these alerts in spectrum (SPM)in spectrum I can’t set 300ms.It is returing to 1000ms.Kindly advice .

    Thanks

    Hi,

Please share the SPM Latency configuring Screen shot. ( it has event, warning.minor, major, critical severities,   to be configured properly )

    Regards,

    K.sathyaRaj.

    PFA....

    Kindly help me on this...

And ther is live monitoring for SPM ?

Actually While running test only i can get the alerts .If i can clear alert is not triggering.

    Hi,

    for Example:

    I have a ISP link latency was 100ms . So, event 100 , if it goes 120 raise minor , 140 raise major, 160 critical  , 90ms to clear the alarm .

you have to Schedule it as mentioned below,

    Schedule a Test
The Schedule tab lets you schedule a test. Depending on which test you are
configuring, you may or may not have access to the following Schedule
    parameters.
    Schedule State
Enables and disables a test schedule.
    Default: Disabled
    Schedule time interval
Specifies the interval between scheduled test runs.
    Default: 900 seconds

    Schedule
Specifies one of the predefined schedules available from the drop-down list.
See Create a Schedule (see page 49) for information about creating
    additional schedules.
    Default: 24/7
Note: Time zones for Schedule are local to the SpectroSERVER where the
test host running the scheduled test is modeled.
    Threshold Violation Interval
Specifies an alternate test interval that can be used during a threshold
violation period. Decreasing the interval during a period of high latency can
    provide more precise data.
    Default: 300 seconds
Note: When the Threshold Violation Interval is exceeded, the test will not
resume again until the Threshold Violation Interval is reached, whether it is
a lower or higher value than the Scheduled Time Interval.
Important! Setting this value too low can create enough additional traffic
and load on the router during a period of high latency to make the situation
    worse.
     Configure Tests

Chapter 3: Working with Performance Tests 49

    Create a Schedule
You can create schedules if the provided schedules do not meet your particular
requirements. Schedules you create are not test-specific; they are available for
all tests. For more information about creating schedules, see the Operator
    Guide.

    To create a test schedule
    1. Click Create in the Schedule tab.
    The Create Schedule dialog opens.
    2. Configure schedule settings and click OK.
The new schedule appears in the Schedule drop-down list.
Note: If you create a schedule with Recurrence set to None, the test will run
once on the start date, and then the schedule will revert to the default schedule
and the schedule will be disabled.

Specify Alarm Thresholds for a Test
The Threshold tab lets you configure alarm thresholds to monitor response time
measurements on a specific link or path. Threshold parameters vary from test to
test. When a threshold value is exceeded, CA Spectrum generates an event, an
alarm, or both, based on the settings you specify.

The following section describes Threshold option parameters. Threshold
parameters vary depending on the type of test you are creating.
    Active Thresholds Schedule
Specifies one of the predefined schedules during which thresholds are in
effect and which is available from the drop-down list. You may want to use
this feature if you want to measure test against thresholds only during
certain times of the day. See Create a Schedule (see page 49) for
    information about creating additional schedules.
    Default: 24/7
Note: Time zones for schedules are local to the SpectroSERVER where the
test host running the scheduled test is modeled.
    Threshold Events Asserted On
Specifies the model from the drop-down list on which events are asserted.

    Threshold Types
Identifies threshold settings for the threshold types related to a test.

    Status
Enables and disables each threshold type for a test.
     Configure Tests

    50 User Guide

    Event
Specifies a response time threshold value (greater than 0) that if exceeded
results in CA Spectrum generating an event.
Depending on the threshold type, a threshold value can be specified as one
    the following:
    ■ A time interval in milliseconds (ms)
    ■ A percentage (%) of packet errors encountered

    Minor Alarm
Specifies a response time threshold value (greater than 0) that if exceeded
results in CA Spectrum generating a minor alarm.
Depending on the threshold type, a threshold value can be specified as one
    the following:
    ■ A time interval in milliseconds (ms)
    ■ A percentage (%) of packet errors encountered

    Major Alarm
Specifies a response time threshold value (greater than 0) that if exceeded
results in CA Spectrum generating a major alarm.
Depending on the threshold type, a threshold value can be specified as one
    the following:
    ■ A time interval in milliseconds (ms)
    ■ A percentage (%) of packet errors encountered

    Critical Alarm
Specifies a response time threshold value (greater than 0) that if exceeded
results in CA Spectrum generating a critical alarm.
Depending on the threshold type, a threshold value can be specified as one
    the following:
    ■ A time interval in milliseconds (ms)
    ■ A percentage (%) of packet errors encountered

    Threshold Cycles
Specifies a value (greater than 0) that indicates the number of consecutive
test cycles this test must run in violation of the threshold before CA
Spectrum generates an event or alarm.
     Configure Tests

Chapter 3: Working with Performance Tests 51

    Clear Threshold
Specifies a response time threshold value (greater than 0) that if not
exceeded results in CA Spectrum clearing an event or alarm. Depending on
the threshold type, a threshold value can be specified as one the following:
    ■ A time interval in milliseconds (ms)
    ■ A percentage (%) of packet errors encountered
    Clear Cycles
Specifies a value (greater than 0) that indicates the number of consecutive
test cycles this test must run in compliance with a threshold before CA
Spectrum clears an event or alarm.

Hello can someone explain to me how it works with threshold events asserted on (RTM Test Source Model (If Modeled in SPECTRUM) Destination Model (if modeled in SPECTRUM) Host Test) what option does it help me to alert the test to appear in the headquarters equipment container?

attached the image with the configuration

    Thank you
