  • 1.  CA PPM Tech Tip: Upgrading to MSP 2013 and using Baselines?

If you are upgrading from Microsoft Project (MSP) 2010 (or lower) to MSP 2013 and using a Legacy version of the MSP Interface (Including 13.2, 13.3, and 14.x), there is a defect to be aware of if you have saved any of your projects in MSP 2010 previously and the project has a baseline.

When opening a project from PPM to MSP 2013 you will get an error message saying: "Schedlink MFC Application has stopped working" and / or “Project: 11 Receiving baseline revision: 1”. In MSP 2010, the project opens with no issue.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Create a project with a baseline in PPM
    2. Open the project in MSP 2010
    3. Create a task in MSP 2010 and save back to PPM
    4. Open the project from PPM to MSP 2013

Instead of the project opening successfully, you will receive one or both of the below messages:

    • Project: 11 Receiving baseline revision: 1
    • Schedlink MFC Application has stopped working

This issue is currently under review as issue: CLRT-77308.

    To work around this issue:

Temporarily delete the mpp file from the prdocument table for the project(s) with the issue. This will allow you to then open the project in MSP2013.

Note: It is recommended to only save a project in one version of MSP until this is defect is fixed, as this issue will happen each time the project is saved in MSP2010 and then attempted to be opened in MSP 2013.
