Upgrade 8.51-9.0.2-9.2

Hi there,
I am about to update an environment, but before there is one question: In docops it would seem like under 9.0.2, e. g. here,  you only read about an update to 9.2 - but I need to upgrade to 9.0.2 from 8.51 first. Where do I find a proper documentation for this update step? Or is it more or less the same?

Hi Alex ,

 Please find the below . You can upgrade directly from 8.5.1 Sp1 to 9.0.2 . If it is a VM kindly take a VM snapshot of UIM  server . Take a complete full backup of Database . Kindly let us know if you have still any questions .

We are upgrading this Thursday and all the UIM 9.02 and 9.20 files off the support.nimisoft.com are now moved to the https://casupport.broadcom.com/download-center/product-files.html  page.
The support.nimsoft.com download page now says go to the real support page to get the installer files.

This is where the fun begins:

Can someone explain what is the differences here?  9.02 Options:

Why are there two options (GENXXXXX and DVD####) for the same package which both contain the same files?

For 9.2.0, just for everyone's sanity, all the options all point to the same files: DVD500000000002604.iso

And can someone explain, on the UIM HOT FIXES page, what hot fixes, (if any) are required from that top most "Important Hotfixes" section if we are going from 8.51 > 9.02 > 9.2.0?

The obvious 9.2.0 hot fixes (probes) needed I see are:

• UMP - None
• UIM - data_engine - data_engine-9.20HF2.zip
• UIM - hub - hub_9.20HF1.zip
• UIM - maintenance_mode - maintenance_mode_9.20-HF1.zip
• UIM - robot_update - robot_update-9.20HF3.zip
• UIM - sla_engine - sla_engine-9.1.0-HF1.zip

Hi Daniel,
yes, each of those sets of two contains the same files.
The one with the zip in the name downloads as a zip file with the ISO inside.
But the contents are the same as the DVD vs GEB package.
The robot installers are just that. A set of robot installers.
The other package is the one needed for the upgrade.

Hotfixes are usually only loaded as needed as they are designed to deal with very specific problems that most clients will not run into.
That being said the 9.20 updates listed by you I would plan to go ahead and install as soon as you are done your update to 9.20

Hi Praveen, I understand that I can upgrade from 8.51 straight to 9.0.2 - as you write. But NOT to 9.2, correct? That's what the upgrade paths say. But then, when I want information on upgrading to 9.0.2, in docops I apparently only find info on upgrading to 9.2 from 9.0.2 which supposedly is something different. Am I wrong?
