Best practice for tool download , install and configuration

    Hi All,

I had a few queries w.r.t download, install , configuration of tool.
    • The download takes few hours – it took 8 hours and even after that not able to access the zip file. What is the best method to download the tool
    • For PoC purposes are there any best practices w.r.t download , install and configuration of tool . We are planning to use the default derby DB for now.
    • Once the tool is installed are there any privileges / access that the tool needs to be given. For e.g. if we need to record a particular application then does the tool need to be given any access etc.
    • There are some default ports that the tool uses like 1507 etc. Any actions to be taken on these ports.

Kindly provide us the best practices w.r.t tool download , initial configuration for PoC purposes or lead the right doc .

    Thanks
    Anil

    Hi Anil,

    PFB my comments:

    • The download takes few hours – it took 8 hours and even after that not able to access the zip file. What is the best method to download the tool

Vaibhav: There are two options for download HTTP and FTP. Based on the OS and internet speed, we can choose one.

    • For PoC purposes are there any best practices w.r.t download , install and configuration of tool . We are planning to use the default derby DB for now.

Vaibhav: Derby is not recommended to any implementation, but if we are considering couple of simple services to be implemented just for POC, we can use that at initial stage and later could be replaced by external DB

    • Once the tool is installed are there any privileges / access that the tool needs to be given. For e.g. if we need to record a particular application then does the tool need to be given any access etc.

Vaibhav: To start the components, admin rights are needed. Application specific access are tightly couple with nature of app & its architecture

    • There are some default ports that the tool uses like 1507 etc. Any actions to be taken on these ports.

Vaibhav:  if you want to access the portal outside of the installed machine, then you may need connectivity to be established , same is applicable for interaction between application & SV server.

    Thanks.
