ANNOUNCEMENT: Upgrade Requirements to Support Enhanced Security in DX NetOps 21.2

Subject: Upgrade Requirements to Support Enhanced Security in DX NetOps 21.2

 

CA Technologies, a Broadcom Company is continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. To support enhanced security, we will be adding new encryption to communication between DX NetOps components. Upgrading to the DX NetOps 21.2, which will release in Q2CY21, will require upgrading all components to maintain the integration and ensure a secure solution.

DX NetOps 21.2 will include the following components:

• DX NetOps Performance Management
• DX NetOps Spectrum
• Network Flow Analysis
• DX NetOps Virtual Network Assurance
• DX NetOps Mediation Manager

DX NetOps 21.2 will support direct upgrades from any of the following releases:

• DX NetOps Performance Management 3.7.x and 20.2.x
• DX NetOps Spectrum 10.4.x and 20.2.x
• Network Flow Analysis 10.0.x and 20.2.x
• DX NetOps Virtual Network Assurance 3.7.x and 20.2.x
• DX NetOps Mediation Manager 3.7.x and 20.2.x

We plan to release the following final monthly kits with fixes for DX NetOps 20.2:

• 2.9 in March, 2021
• 2.10 in April, 2021

At this time, we encourage you to plan for the migration to DX NetOps 21.2 as soon as possible, so you can take full advantage of the features and enhancements this release has to offer. For information on DX NetOps, please visit the DX NetOps Support page.

As Broadcom would like to make your upgrade to DX NetOps 21.2 as straightforward as possible, we are offering the following resources:

• The latest supported Version/Release of DX NetOps, at no charge, as long as you have an active maintenance contract for DX NetOps.
• Documentation to help you prepare for your upgrade to the new Version/Release can be viewed on the DX NetOps Support page.
• Accelerated time-to-value when you engage CA Services to assist you with any or all parts of your upgrade. Additional information can be found here. Please contact your account representative to receive a quote for such services.

21.2 is not released.  Will be another month or two before it's ready.

This is more of an announcement that when it releases, all parts of NetOps will need to be upgraded to support the new security changes between products.  We wanted to inform customers so they can plan accordingly to make sure all parts of NetOps can be upgraded when 21.2 releases.

We are adding authentication to many places that didn't have it before, so interoperability between products can stop if you don't upgrade PM, Spectrum, NFA, VNA, etc at the same time.

Sounds great, although this is a massive piece of work - on both sides.
Reassure me that an in-line upgrade has been tested, and works, for a DX NetOps installation that is configured to use HTTPS throughout, please? The UIM upgrades seemed to run into some issue in this area and we'd like to avoid a repeat.

That's the plan Glenn, to test all NetOps and upgrade it all as one with HTTPS.
