  • 1.  VCAIM Server duplicate vCenter added causing multiple alerts

Hi, after rediscover my aim server in Spectrum 10.1   I notice after a day or so  under my virtual host manager drop down that a duplicate vcenter has been created.  I have made sure that all my SpectroServer permissions have been set to "no access".   Is it possible that my VCAIM server can only point to one vcenter and not twol?   I am out of ideas and need thoughts?

I have the same problem, and that's because my Spectrum server is a virtual machine, managed by the vCenter discovered with the VCAIM and modeled in Spectrum under the Virtual Host Manager module. That's a known issue, and the official answer from CA Support was this:

    Case Comment added for case:00429859

    Thanks for the update Elio.

I was told by the specialists this is known to cause unexpected behavior.

The recommended would be not to manage the vcenter where the SS reside to void issues.

At least not with the SystemEDGE VCAIM.

Of course, almost nobody has a physical Spectrum server or not managed by the vCenter one would discover with Spectrum.

Most of us run our Spectrum servers on VMs... it's mostly unavoidable these days.  Best thing to do is create a special folder in the vCenter server that manages your Spectrum VM.  Set the permissions on that folder such that the VMware user ID you created for your VCAIM integration has no rights to view anything in it.  Then put your Spectrum VM in that folder.  That way Spectrum won't see itself in your VHM/VAIM integration inside itself.

As far as monitoring your Spectrum server with SystemEDGE goes... you'll want to manually configure the agent on your Spectrum VM to send your Spectrum admins those notifications directly without Spectrum involvement.  That's actually better because if you monitor Spectrum with Spectrum... and Spectrum is down...

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.
