  • 1.  Resource Requisition Rights to Booking Manager

    Posted Nov 27, 2019 05:03 PM
    Hello!

As part of Resource Requisition process in Clarity, we were expecting to have Resource/Booking manager to book the resource instead of PM. To enable Booking manager to book a resource, I have granted Project-Edit instance level rights on the project and marked 'Requisition Approval Required' as No(which means who PM approval required to book a resource). As per the documentation, booking manager is supposed to see only 'Book' button instead of 'Propose'. However, booking manager is able to see both Book and Propose buttons. We don't want to have proposal functionality through Clarity. Can someone suggest how to disable 'Propose' button from Requistion Resource Page?

On the other note, if Project-Edit rights are granted to the booking manager, they automatically get edit rights to edit Project Summary page. Is there anyway to restrict a booking manager to have only edit rights to the Team tab? (As they are supposed to hard book a resource)

Reference to the Clarity 15.7 documentation: https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/business-management/clarity-project-and-portfolio-management-ppm-on-premise/15-7/using/getting-started-with-classic-ppm/resource-management/fill-resource-requisitions.html#concept.dita_cf8e636b325a87b4d303d2172918c118de857747_ReviewResourceRequisitions

    From the lines of documentation:
'If the Requisition Approval Required option for the project is turned off (no project manager approval required):
    1. The Book button appears on the page instead of the Propose button. To hard-book the resource onto the project automatically without the project manager approval, click Book.
    2. If you do not have the Project - Edit access right, the Propose button appears on the page instead of the Book button. Click Propose to submit the booking for approval, rather than directly booking to the project. Later, when your project manager views the Project Team: Requisitions page, the Book and Reject buttons appear on the page.'

    Hi Praneeth

My understanding is that resource/booking managers only need View access to a project to be able to book resources.

Have you tried substituting "Project - Edit" for "Project - View Management"?

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Global "Project - View Management" right did work and booking manager can do hard booking through the requisition. On the other note, we don't want 'Propose' functionality for a booking manager rather they should be able to hard book directly to the project. Any idea of how that button can be disabled in the Requisition page?

In general what rights are required for the booking manager? Below are the rights I did grant to test this process:

    Hi Praneeth

As the documentation suggests, if the 'Requisition Approval Required' field is not ticked on the project properties then any requisition related to that project should not present the Propose button, and should only present the Book button.

However, when the requisition looks at this field is unknown. So, if this field was ticked when the requisition was created it could be that the requisition remembers this setting even if it is subsequently unticked.

If you cannot determine the timing of this you may have to just educate your users to ignore the Propose button and only use the Book button.

If I had access to a Clarity system I could be more positive about this so apologies for the vagary.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

I have tested this functionality for a new project (to make sure 'Requisition Approval Required' is not ticked on project properties) by creating requisitions and to my surprise I can see both Propose and Book buttons. This will give the ability for resource managers to action either Propose/Book. But we want to have only the 'Book' button and not 'Propose' button.

Another interesting thing which I have observed is the Resource manager cannot see a delete button in the Resources Requisition tab. Resource managers are granted with 'Project - Attach Requisitions Entry Resources - All', which I assume should grant them to add/delete the resources from requisition resources tab. At the moment, they can see Add, Book, Propose, Save, Return buttons.
