We currently have the WCC database for r11.3 on a legacy Windows server and looked for documentation on how to migrate the WCC database but haven't found anything helpful.

We located in Workload Control Center\data\config\application\config\resources the connection.properties file that references the wcc.database.host=<legacy sever name>\\WA.

At the top of the file it shows

    # NOTE:
    # NOTE: Changes to this file does not take affect until imported into
    # NOTE: WCC Configuration.
    # NOTE:

But this file has a lot of encrypted strings so just changing the server name to the new server and instance seems like issues would occur when importing into the WCC Configuration.

Is there documentation on this process that I am just unable to locate?

    Thanks,

    Calip

    Hi Calip,

You'd need to make use of the WCC Configuration Batch Interface to make the switch:

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello,

WCC can be upgraded in place only if the one in place is 11.3.5 or higher.
So one could go from 11.3.5 to 11.3.6 or 11.4 sp1. But if you are at WCC 11.3 ,

then unfortunately there is no upgrade in place option available.

For more detail please take a look at:

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-workload-automation-ae/11-4-2/en/upgrading/ca-wcc-upgrade

You will need to uninstall the current version of WCC before installing the newest version.

Prior to uninstalling r11.3, it is recommended to:

Export your monitoring objects (includes views, filters and alerts)

    Migrate Job Monitoring Objects

    Migrate Job status Console Objects

    Migrate Monitoring Views

Export your configurations (includes AE instance definition and application preferences)

You can get some information from the following TecDoc

    https://comm.support.ca.com/kb/how-to-rebuild-the-derby-database-for-workload-control-center-r113-sp1/kb000010250

I hope these information suits your need,

    Thanks and warm regards,

Hi Faouzia, we are not looking to "upgrade" as this is a legacy automation tool for us and no new jobs are being added.

Chandru.Venkataraman in your response you have the link for 11.4.2 documentation. I see the wcc_config.bat file to use on our WCC server. Should the commands on the specific link below also work in 11.3?

    Thanks for the relies!

WCC 11.3 batch config utility did not provide the ability to change database details. I am jogging my memory how we updated database passwords back then. I'll get back with details next week.

    Hi Calip,

Unfortunately WCC 11.3 does not provide an option to change database details after installation.

    Thanks,
