By "real machines offline" are you referring to real Agent machines?

Am assuming that the Autosys Scheduler, Application Server and Database machines will be "live" - if so, you can start Autosys with the "real" Agent machines off line.

    Thank you Chris,

Yes, Thanks for "reading" my mind. The Application Scheduler, Application Server and Database will come up live. During our test we do not want any jobs to start executing when the Scheduler Starts. We are just going to run adhoc jobs for this test. Would you happen to know what "parameter" needs to be modified to have the have Autosys machines start "offline". Thank again !

you would have to get a list of all the real machine names listed with autorep -M

    then sendeevent MACH_OFFLINE each one

    otherwise..

you are better off putting the env in global ON_HOLD.

in doing so after each execution and when you are done with your test you will have to take it out of AUTO_HOLD

    and restart..

this feature has been there since before R11.. ;-)

This is probably what you really wanted.. either way.. these are 2 ways in which to do it..

    Good Luck.

Global AutoHold has been an option since v4.x and since r11, this has been configurable in config.$AUTOSERV  or Admin GUI.

If this is 11.3.6 SP2, onecan have an initial status (on_hold)  for new jobs.

In WCC 11.4 SP1, one can put machine ONLINE/OFFLINE using the machine widget.

When machine is OFFLINE, jobs go to PEND_MACH(PE) status by default. However, in 11.3.5/6 one can set the job status to change to (ON_ICE for example) when the machine is OFFLINE. This is configured in config.$AUTOSERV  or Admin GUI (GlobalPendMachStatus or something like that) .

    New status Attribute

The status attribute sets an initial status for a job during insertion. This can prevent jobs from running during the insertion process.

    Steve,

The intention was just to highlight other 3 options (status attrib, WCC machine widget, GlobalPendMachStatus) the new WAAE version has to offer - didn't mean to tread on your toes.

Thank you for your expert guidance in CA Communities!

    Cheers,
