How is the order of Project Hierarchy achieved?  Or better yet, is there a way I can change the order of the project hierarchy?

I have a parent project called COLOR, with children of red, green, and blue - in that order.  I want the order to be green, blue, red.  How can I accomplish that?

    thank you

    Hi Donna,

The children order is the order of entry into the parent project. First to enter is listed first, second is following etc etc..

I don't believe we have a way to change the order. Normally the way to re-order elements in the product is by drag & drop but I don't see that projects have that option or any other 'ranking' option.

    I'll double check that.

You may want to consider proposing that to the Ideas site at: https://ideas.rallydev.com   (from Agile Central community home page you can click the Ideas link to redirect there as well).

    Thanks,

    Sagi

Actually devers1 it's not as easy as it could be, but it's just a matter of selecting a different parent for the projects you'd like to move. Basically by going through this one-by-one, you can re-organize your hierarchy.

Thank you but I want to keep them under the same parent.  Are you suggesting I move them temporarily to a different parent, and do my rearranging as I move them back under the original parent?

Donna, I may be missing the thrust of the question but in the Project selector, projects are ordered in simple alphanumeric order. This isn't always the case when you're looking at projects from the Workspaces & Projects page of the administrative panel so you might be getting thrown off by that. In your example the projects will be listed in the Project selector in the user interface as Blue, Green and Red in that order. If you wanted them listed otherwise then you could either change their names or use a simple alphanumeric prefix convention like 1- Green, 2- Blue, 3- Red.

If I've misunderstood the question then please let me know but I hope this helps.

No Eric, you are right on point.  I thought they were done alpha-numeric, but wanted to re-arrange them without changing the team name.  I'll need to rethink that now.  Thanks much,
