  • 1.  SOI - Spectrum RTM (Performance data)

    Posted Nov 15, 2019 12:17 PM
    Hello SOI Land,

    Does any know whether the RTM (Performance Data) from Spectrum can be used to show impact on an SOI service?  If the RTM degradation is presented on the host device, then shouldn't it have some impact on the service that it is apart of?

    I am happy to hear all the ideas on how to get this done.  We have Spectrum Fault Manager 10.3 and SOI 4.2.  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hello Waverly, which release of Spectrum Connector for SOI do you have ? In the release 2.0.0.259 we have in the connectors NonDevice.xml configuration the RTM_Test model type already included.

    <equals>
    <attribute id="0x10000">
    <value>RTM_Test</value>
    </attribute>
    </equals>

    I we have the same version 2.0.0.259.

    So in order to use this data, what documentation do I need to read?  I am not even sure what question to ask.

    Thanks,
    Waverly

    Hi Waverly,

    the documentation related to this is here: https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/it-operations-management/service-operations-insight-connectors/connectors/ca-spectrum-connector-2-0/ca-spectrum-connector-and-domain-manager-interaction.html#concept.dita_395ffdf691d115ad78922e6ed10c383e4472f99b_ManagingConfigurationItems

    The mentioned files control which models are created as individual CIs in SOI.  In some cases the connector policy must be adopted to get this working.
    Once you have CIs representing the RTM_Test models in SOI, you can model these in services to see impacts of RTM_Test failures in your service.

    Michael,

    Thanks for the link to the doc.  I understand the concept, but this is beyond my knowledge of SOI.  How do I execute this?  On the Spectrum side do we create the RMT_test?  Then how do we populate it into SOI?  Thanks again.

    Hi Waverly,

    You'd have to have some knowledge about how to model a CI into a SOI Service. In case you already have this knowledge then as a first step it's a matter of editing an existing SOI service, or creating a new SOI service and from the Service Modeler left pane, search for your RTM_test, by name works fine. So, if you've called it "ping test", search for "ping test" etc. In the "Browse By" field you could select "Data Source", then select your Spectrum poller instance (actualy your Spectrum connector), expand it and expand "Application". There you should find the RTM_test.

    Good luck!
