Manual Ranking - Tasks

We just went to Manual Ranking, and discovered that we no longer have a way to change the order of tasks, since drag 'n drop has been turned off. We tend to run our tasks as sequential activities, Rank does not show up as a field that can be sorted or changed, so looking for suggestions. 

My current thought is to create a numeric "sequence" field on the task object.

That could probably work .. what about adding a numeric prefix to your Task Name field?

That was one of the options, but some of the defects that come in from a reporting system start with numbers. But thanks for the suggestion!
