    Posted Jul 04, 2018 06:04 AM

    Hi All,

We are using CA Service Desk 17.0 ( two CA Service Desk in conventional  ) in our environment .Currently we are using IP subnet of 192.168.X.X  in our all CA Service Desk   servers machines.Recently we did some change in IP addressing and planning  to change CA Service Desk machines  IP addresses from 192.168.X.X to 10.10.X.X(New Subnet).

Please help and suggest  me  on following points:-

1.To change IP address  of CA Service Desk  Machines,  which CA doc we need to follow ?

2.Any down time required to complete this activity ?

    3.Any other suggestion .

4.There is any chance of data loss and any other challenges ?

    Regards,

    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,

When you did the ServiceDesk install, did you specifically use the IP address for the hosts or you used the hostname\servername? If you used the servernames, then there is nothing to worry about anything as the server names will resolve to the whatever the ip address on the subnet the servers belong to.

If you used the ip address, you will find the information in the 'al_cdb_configurationparameters' table and you can change the ip addresses in that table.

    Kind Regards,

Additionally, the following document is helpful for this issue:

    https://comm.support.ca.com/kb/How-to-change-the-IP-addresses-of-MDB-and-ServiceDesk-servers/KB000026032

(you can skip step 2 if you don't need to change IP of db server)

About: Any down time required to complete this activity ?

The time it takes to change the IP and run pdm_configure.

    About: Any other suggestion .

I would check that none of the options under options manager is using the IP address.

    Hope this helps.
