  • 1.  Is it possible to use a modified port for Maileater?

    Posted Apr 27, 2018 03:19 PM

We are trying to set up mail eater but must connect to port 993 instead of 143.  According to the document found here: https://comm.support.ca.com/kb/unable-to-connect-maileater-to-mail-server-via-ssl-port-995/kb000031773

it is unable to use port 995 due to a requirement Service Desk Manager to create a 'non secure based connection, then start a TLS connection.'  Was port 995 used as an example for any port substitution or was it just that port?

We are currently running 14.1 in production and have 17.0 in test.  Was SSL introduced in 17.1?

With 14.1, yes, SDM uses STARTTLS approach (but not native SSL support) which is normally supported on non SSL ports of a mail server.   So yea, unfortunately you'll have to use the approach documented in the link that you have found earlier already

17.1 does support native SSL mode too, and so 993 should be OK
