When we originally installed CA SDM 12.9, we were informed that the application server could be housed on a VMWARE server, but that the SQL had to be place on a physical server.  Currently, our DBAs are asking us if we can transition our SQL server from the 6 year old hardware to a VMWARE server.  Has the statement of placing the SQL on a physical server changed?  What caveats are there f we do place the SQL on a VMWARE server?  Our SQL is MS SQL 2012.  Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Please review the following link, which discusses the VMWare support policy:

CA Support Statement for VMWare - CA Technologies

Generally speaking, we have not seen any concerns for running SQL Server on a hosted VMWare instance with Service Desk.  However, we do suggest you run adequate testing and validation of any such environment to ensure you have sufficient resources to operate in an expected production instance.
