APM url in the Asset Viewer

  • 1.  APM url in the Asset Viewer

    Posted Dec 14, 2015 08:14 AM

    We have integrated APM with SDM, in SDM from a CI form when we click the Asset Viewer button the Common Asset Viewer page shows up.

    When we click on the Launch CA Asset Portfolio Management link, it tries to open the http://apmserver:99/ITAM, and since we have changed the APM port, how can get this URL updated in Common Asset Viewer page

    Hi Mohamed,

    The URL and port are defined in the GUI-> Administration->Systems Configuration->Common Asset Viewer

    Hope this helps-

    Hi Carol,

    The AMS URL is like http://APMServer:9080/AMS/login.do, however the Launch CA Asset Portfolio Management link is  http://apmserver:99/ITAM

    Regards,

    Mohamed..

    We've got the exact same problem with the Launch CA Asset Portfolio Management link - it goes to

    http://servername:80/ITAM but we need it to go to http://servername:99/ITAM, and I can't find where in APM to change it?

    Note: the AMS url in GUI-> Administration->Systems Configuration->Common Asset Viewer is correct.

    Hi Mohamed,

    Also, once you have defined the asset viewer URL and port number, then be sure to perform an IISRESET on the APM web and APM application servers, then test again.

    Let us know if this resolves the problem.

    Hi Gale,

    I've tried IISRESET but still the link is not working. It looks that the configuration might be on SDM side.

    Regards,

    Mohamed...

    Mohamed,

    Please open an issue with the Service Desk group so it can be looked into further.

    Regards,

    Carol

    I managed to fix our by updating the AMS.Properties file on the CA Service Desk application server.

    Go to server path... CA\Service Desk Manager\bopcfg\www\CATALINA_BASE\webapps\AMS\WEB-INF\classes

    Edit AMS.Properties file - APM server in section at bottom (since it still says version 12 when we're on v14, I assume this file didn't get updated during upgrade?)

    appreg.2002.product_specific_data=http://servername:99/ITAM

    appreg.2002.product_name=CA Asset Portfolio Management

    appreg.2002.major_version=12

    appreg.2002.minor_version=9

    Hello Mohamed, Rebecca,

    There are two places where AMS looks for the data to launch APM, or launch Service Desk - the ams.properties file and the ca_application_registration table.  The information below may resolve your issue:

    UAPM or ServiceDesk link is not going to the correct server.

    If you are viewing AMS and clicking either the Launch Unicenter Asset Portfolio Management or Launch Service Desk and it is failing check one of two places for the problem:

    By default AMS.PROPERTIES does not have values to connect to either one of these servers by that link. If AMS determines multiple CA products which integrate with AMS are running on the same MDB (by viewing the ca_application_registration table) generates a link on the Asset Viewer screen to launch one of the hosting applications.

    This data (URL to the host) can be found in two locations; First AMS checks the AMS.PROPERTIES file for:

    appreg.2003.product_specific_data=http://URL:8080/CAisd/pdmweb.exe
    appreg.2003.product_name=Unicenter Service Desk
    appreg.2002.product_specific_data=http://URL:80/APM/
    appreg.2002.product_name=Unicenter Asset Portfolio Management

    If the entries do not exist AMS will search for the applications URL in ca_application_registration. Once it gets the information it will write the contents to the AMS.PROPERTIES file for future use.

    If you change the machine name or host URL, please make the appropriate changes to the AMS.PROPERTIES file and the ca_application_registration.

    Thanks Gale!

    My only concern is that in our DEV environment, the Service Desk AMS.properties file still displays APM as 12.9 when it is really 14.1, so not sure SD missed getting some update when we upgraded APM?

    to clarify - the ca_registration_table lists APM as 14.1, but the AMS.properties lists as 12.9, so there's a mismatch - should I open ticket?

    Hi Rebecca,

    Yes, please open a  case and I'll take ownership.

    Please provide:

    1) export the contents of the ca_application_registration table (to .xls)

    2) the ams.properties file

    Hi Mohamed and Rebecca,

    For this problem:  "When we click on the Launch CA Asset Portfolio Management link, it tries to open an incorrect URL to APM",

    it looks like the auto integration between SDM and APM is not correct.

    In the CA Service Managment 14.1 documentation, see this link for instructions on how to configure SDM to launch the correct APM URL:  Launch CA Asset Portfolio Management in Context From CA Service Desk Manager - CA Service Management - 14.1 - CA Technol…
