  • 1.  Filter Configuration Items by Request Area

    Does anyone know of any functionality within SDM 14.1 that would allow for the ability to filter the selection of Configuration Items based on the Request Area?  For example, if an Incident Area of "Application ABC" is used, we would like to filter and limit the Configuration Item selected on the Incident record to only those that are associated to the application (specific servers, services, etc...).  In large organizations such as ours with well over 70,000 CI's this would be a huge time saver for our Service Desk staff.

    Hi Steve,

    Currently this functionality does not exist within the product as there is no way to relate a category to a specific list of CIs. What you are looking for is some type of field validation based on category.  I do understand your use case, and there may be some customers that would benefit from having that functionality.  What I would do in this case is advise you to post an "idea" here on the communities for this as well, so that folks can vote for it.
