  • 1.  Module cannot be deleted due to "Element is set to readonly"

    Hi,

I received a module from a user and my clw script cannot remove the module:

Error executing command.  Element is set to readonly

I and the user have no idea where that "readonly" is set. I cannot delete the module from the workstation either, because one of "The Dashboard is in use by the Dashboard" in another module.  Of course I can stop the manager and delete the modules.

Does anybody have an idea about why the "readonly" message and so why clw cannot remove the module?

    Thanks,

    Fred

    Hi Fred,

Any chance the MM has been set to readonly in the past using "set readonly management modules matching .."

Here is section "Read-only Management Modules" from CLW ref in wiki:

CLW Command Reference - CA Application Performance Management - 10.2 - CA Technologies Documentation

    Hope it helps

    Regards,

    Hi,

Thanks for the link. I spent my afternoon trying to narrow my observations and find the fastest workaround.

The error appears to be simply due to two modules having an "Overview" dashboard with a button/link to the other module's overview dashboard.

Deleting one of the button and deleting the other module first solves this conundrum.

Moral of the story: unsatisfactory error message from clw

Actually an option -ignore and force delete would be better

    Regards,

    Fred
