agent list based on metrics matching "EM Host"

Agent  [9x and some 8x]  list is generated based on CLW  [MOM is  APM 9.6]

 

java -Xmx128M -Duser=Guest -Dpassword=Guest -Dhost=abcd001.com   -Dport=5001 -jar ./CLWorkstation.jar get historical data from agents matching ".*" and metrics matching "EM Host" for past 1 minute with frequency of 60 seconds

 

Total number don't match with the  total agent  calculator ,  based on  following expression.

 

Agent Expression   :    .*\|Custom Metric Process \(Virtual\)\|.*\(Virtual\).*

Metrics Expression:      Enterprise Manager\|Connections:Number of Agents

 

NOTE: Some cluster  shows matching  number but some cluster  shows difference upto   28.  Always the calculator is showing more than CLW !!!

 

-Is it possible some agent may not have   EM Host metrics?

-Or Agent and metrics grouping is picking up  other metric  [some  in built metrics]

Hi Santosh,

One possible scenario I can think of is that on some clusters you might have metric clamping occurring either at agent or EM Collector side, so EM is not receiving nor processing new metrics for them.

If yes some agents are still connected but only have historical metrics older than the 1 minute you are testing for with the CLW command, which would explain the Calculator value for "Connections:Number of Agents" being higher

 

Can you please check to see if that is a possibility?

Here are some relevant metrics.

 

Agent clamp:

*SuperDomain*|Custom Metric Host (Virtual)|Custom Metric Process (Virtual)|Custom Metric Agent (Virtual)(<collector>)(*SuperDomain*)|Agents|<your agent name>: IsClamped  

 

EM Collector clamps:

*SuperDomain*|Custom Metric Host (Virtual)|Custom Metric Process (Virtual)|Custom Metric Agent (Virtual)(<collector>)(*SuperDomain*)|Enterprise Manager|Connections|EM Live Metric Clamped    

*SuperDomain*|Custom Metric Host (Virtual)|Custom Metric Process (Virtual)|Custom Metric Agent (Virtual)(<collector>)(*SuperDomain*)|Enterprise Manager|Connections|EM Historical Metric Clamped

Thanks for the update.

Don't have the agent and or collector clamp.

But I tend to agree with your explanation could be one of the cuase.

I noted  in few case GUI showed me 

SuperDomain  Myhost | My_Process | MyAgent | EM Host   shows  -->  String Viewer: no data   [for live data]

which I don't expect to list it from CLW.

 

Since it involves thousand of agents, I  could not  check from GUI.

 

But I assume  such calculator will  give equal or more than such CLW .
