  • 1.  How CA APM Agent behaves when it is not able to connect to the EM server ?

Hi, We have an APM setup with only one EM Server. We are quite concern when the APM Agent lost connection to the EM server. These are some of the questions:

How the agent behaves when it is not able to connect to the management server ?

How frequent is the attempt to establish the connection ? Is there any timeout period ?

The agent will continue to collect data and store locally ?

Once the management server is up, all the data at the managed server will be sent to the management server ?

If yes, any throttling to not impact the network performance ?

How the agent behaves when it is not able to connect to the management server ?

ð  It will try to re-establish the connection forever.

How frequent is the attempt to establish the connection ? Is there any timeout period ?

ð  Initially every 15 seconds, then every 2 minutes. There is no timeout, it will keep trying endlessly.

The agent will continue to collect data and store locally ?

ð  No, the Agent has no local storage.

Once the management server is up, all the data at the managed server will be sent to the management server ?

ð  While the server is unreachable, the data is lost. When a connection is re-established, the Agent will resume its normal operation and send the “new” data.
