  • 1.  TIM Collection service in "In Progress" state

    Posted Nov 09, 2015 04:34 AM

    Hi Team

I tried to upgrade to 10.1 on new hardware yesterday. We have a firewall infant of the MTPs running the TIM software so we couldn't completely upgrade so we backed out

One of the things we tried was installing a v10.1 collector on the same server as our old 9.5 standalone systems, but it didn't work so we shut it down

After starting the 9.5 standalone system we have an issue with the TIM collection service just doesn't come up, if we try stop it is says it can't start/stop the service as It is in In Progress state.

This issue should happen less with later releases

    Hi Dave,

If Mike's suggested KB does not resolve the problem you might have to drop all rows in the ts_entity table e.g. see this previous thread: https://communities.ca.com/message/241816947#241816947

    Regards,

    Lynn

    Thanks

I believe both solutions would have solved my issue,

I opted for a blackout to previous db.

Before I started the change, I shutdown the EM and backed up the DB

I restored the previous days DB to another instance and then update config/tess-db-cfg.xml and the restarted EM

You are correct, I restored this exact same DB instance to v10.1 and it didn't blink.
