Hello SV Community, hope you're doing great.
I would like to know if there is any metrics regarding server resource consumption from a single virtual service created for performance testing purposes against one created for automation/functional testing purposes.

    i Luis,

I believe you want to monitor the Server's performance. You have to use some other tool to fetch the server level stats. However, you can compare the response times for different services from DevTest portal.

    Thanks

Thank you for your quick response Vaibhav. So I think my question was more specific to the VSE, if I deploy several virtual services for functional testing, would this have an impact on how much memory the VSE consumes?

    Yes, it will.

Following will also have impact on your VSE memory:
    - Number of VS
    - the type of VS (Protocol combinations)
    - Functional Behavior embedded in VS (queries, read/write files, script etc.)
    - Transactions/sec

    Thanks

    Hi,

I guess I am saying the same thing as Vaibhav but from a different angle: you can control exactly how much memory a VSE consumes at its maximum, by setting the -Xmx JVM parameter in the VSEs .vmoptions file.

Now, what you can acually do within a VSE with that specific maximum size, ie. the number of deployed virtual services it can support all depends on the workload aspects that Vaibhav describes.

    Cheers,
    Danny

@Luis Ledezma - This will give you a good insight into performance of VSEs before, during and after running your tests.

    Hope this helps.
