  • 1.  CA DevTest Build and Release Extension for TFS/VSTS/Azure DevOps

    Hi,

    I am trying to build an un fficial TFS/Azure DevOps Extension for CA DevTest that will perform following operations

    1. Start VS

    2. Stop VS

    3. Build Mar

    4. Deploy Mar

    5. Remove VS

    It will be similar to Jenkins Plugin.

     

    Idea is extension will be free and code will be open sourced and available under MIT License.

     

    My question is do i need to get permission from CA to build and publish something like that? 

    what should i include in License related to CA?

    any information around this would be helpful.

    Well, I am not CA/Broadcom (anymore) so my statements are not official CA/Broadcom statements.

     

    Will you be using only the DevTest REST API (Lisa_Invoke API) for this extension? If so, then you should be fine without permission. I would not chase CA/Broadcom if I was to build something like this.

     

    I would say, as long as you don't decompile and re-use code that you are probably fine.
