Issue:
After registering tables in Datamaker and trying to import the data into the data pool, Datamaker hangs for a long period of time and then crashes. The data is not imported into the data pool. Some of our tables have over 25,000 records.
Environment:
CA Test Data Manager (TDM)- Datamaker 3.5 GA release
Cause:
This is a performance issue with Datamaker. TDM-Datamaker 3.5 and below cannot handle data import with tables that have over approximately 25,000 records. The number of records Datamaker can handle depends on factors such as the size of the record, number of columns, use of data types, etc. So you may be able to import more or less depending on these factors.
Resolution:
Although Datamaker cannot typically handle a scale of 25-30 thousand records because it is a 32-bit application, the new TDM Web Portal can. The TDM Portal publish engine can handle a much larger data volume and is the recommended solution for such scenarios. In order to import data that has tables with over 25,000 records, we recommend upgrading to TDM 3.8+ and using the TDM Web Portal.
- Upgrade to TDM 3.8 GA release. You can download this on https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/newhome
- Install the TDM Web Portal.
- Try your same testing scenario with the TDM Portal instead of Datamaker.
