  • 1.  keyboard shortcut for copy / paste parameters

    Posted May 17, 2016 09:09 AM

    Hey,

I can't find the post where I've read it anymore, so can someone please be so nice and tell me again what the keyboard shortcut is that lets you copy&paste parameter in CA RA? Currently we always need to re-enter the parameters, when copying something from one action to another.

    thanks

    best regards

    Michael

    Hi,

These are the shortcuts for the designer in the ROC:

Use the following keyboard shortcuts for ease of use with common operations in the designer:

    • Delete Key - Delete Objects
    • Ctrl + z/y - Undo/Redo
    • Ctrl + c/v - Copy/Paste
    • / Key - Enables search in an active window

Tip: To zoom, hold the Shift key and use the scroll-wheel.

I got these details for the following URL.  Create Processes - CA Release Automation - 5.5.2 - CA Technologies Documentation

    Regards

    Keith

And holding down the shift key while pasting allows pasting of the parameters.

    Sometimes.

that was what I was looking for...didn't consider the "sometimes" that it is simply just an issue of ROC itself haha...I just tested it, I can copy with parameters when there is text around it (even only copy the parameter itself works, as long as text surrounds it), if there is only a parameter in the field and I copy it, I can't paste it...strange thing

You can successfully copy just a parameter……you just have to highlight the right parts

I wasn't able to copy a parameter, when the parameter was the only thing for example in an input field, i needed to place a dot next to it and then I was able to copy only the parameter

Like I said, it’s kinda tricky.  You have to put the cursor at the end of the parameter, then left arrow two or three times – you can visually see when the parameter is correctly highlighted.

    Then you can copy it.

Also, in design view, hold down ctrl + shift and then left click and holds to drag around the layout of the process or flow.

That's a good one to know - sometimes it's hard to find a background area to right-click on in a large process.  Thanks for this tip!
