  • 1.  Can I import an application that was exported by another user?

    Posted May 17, 2016 02:08 PM

    Hi,

I want to import an application that was previously exported by another user, but the import button is disabled after I select the zip file that I want to import.

Is this a limitation of CA Release Automation or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks!

Without a screen shot, it's hard to tell, but my guess is that an action pack might be missing.....

Which version of CARA are you using?

    Version 5.5.2.191

There should be no problem doing this, I've done it many times.  If you can't import it, then either there is an issue with the export file, or it was exported by a different version.....can you give me the screen shot of the import?

I was trying to import in ASAP but it didn´t work.

When I tried doing the same thing in ROC everything worked as expected.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I agree with Chip this looks like you are missing an action pack that is required by the import, as you can see from the screenshot if the import button is greyed out this is caused by either missing action packs which will be indicated by the "Used Actions" button being red and if you click on the used action button you see a list of actions required and versions any missing actions will be in Red. Once you have loaded any missing action packs the import should work. If the used actions button is not red make sure you have selected the application to be imported.

        Hope this helps

    Regards

    Keith

    Hi,

I was trying to import the application in ASAP but now I tried to import in ROC and it worked!

This seems a little bit strange to me but at least there is a workaround for the problem.

Here is the screenshot from the import in ASAP.

(FYI all action packs are OK)

    Hi,

The import function in ASAP is being deprecated so i would recommend always using the ROC import / Export

If you were trying to import in ASAP something that was exported in ROC, that's what i would expect to happen.

I agree with Keith.....use the new ROC Import/Export and you will be much happier.
