Problem with Jaspersoft server upgrade

  • 1.  Problem with Jaspersoft server upgrade

    Posted May 02, 2018 12:49 AM

For clarity Upgrade 14.4, I have downloaded the files from CA Support.

For Jaspersoft server upgrade it contains below files:
    ca_ppm_jaspersoft_6.4.2_5.4.2.15.zip
    ca_ppm_jaspersoft_patch_6.2.1_5.2.1.4.33.zip

But in Upgrade document its asking to download Jaspersoft 6.1.0 installer and then install cumulative patch ca_ppm_jaspersoft_patch_6.1.0_5.1.0.2.31.zip

Also the jaspersoft upgrade 6.4.2 required  tomcat8 where as jaspersoft 6.1.0 require tomcat7.

Can you please let me know how should I proceed?

Do i need to install Jaspersoft 6.1.0 and cumulative patch 6.1.0_5.1.0.2.31 OR I can install Jaspersoft Jaspersoft  6.4.2 and patch 6.2.1_5.2.1.4.33 (patch is of lower version than actual)?

Will clarity 14.4 will support Jaspersoft 6.4.2?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Amruta

We have given option of Jaspersoft upgrade only from Jaspersoft 6.2.1 to Jaspersoft 6.4.2, but not from Jaspersoft 6.1.0. If you are on 14.4 you are supported to use Jaspersoft 6.4.2

However I would like to let you know that at present we have 15.4 as the latest release and would request you to consider decision to take up 15.4 and not 14.4

    Hi Suman,

We have upgraded Clarity to 14.4 but our current Jasper soft report server is 5.6.1 which we have to upgrade.

So I can we directly upgrade to 6.4.2 or we need to upgrade 6.1.0 first?

In case we need to upgrade to 6.1.0, I am not able to find any downloads for this on ca support site.(By following path given in upgrade document)

Can you please let me know how can I get this installable?

    Thank you.

    Hi Amruta,

You need to install Jaspersoft 6.4.2 and export the organization from Jaspersoft 5.6.1 and import to Jaspersoft 6.4.2

There is no in place support of Jaspersoft from 5.6.1 to Jaspersoft 6.4.2

    HI Amruta

if you install Jaspersoft 6.4.2 there is no need for any patch. That patch was when we used to support Jaspersoft 6.1

    Hi Amruta

From which version you are upgrading Jaspersoft, from the discusssion it looks you were on 5.6.1 and there is no inplace upgrade support from that version.

    Hi Suman,

Even if I try with Installation Type as Fresh installation. Its giving me same error.

I am using old database user for this installation.

Can it be the reason behind this failure?

    Thank you.

Did you drop the database and created the user again. Once an installation is failed you need to drop the same and create the database user and start fresh

Yes I have created new users with blank schema, extracted tomcat and jaspersoft again but still its giving same error:

E:\Jaspersoft\jaspersoft_64254215\install.xml:1017: java.io.FileNotFoundException: E:\Jaspersoft\jaspersoft_64254215\install_0182\5\_130522.log (The system cannot find the path specified)

install_0185 folder is not present in myjaspersoft directory.

Do you have any idea what could be the reason?

    Amruta,

Are you running the installer from that "E:\Jaspersoft..." directory?  Or is the installer actually somewhere else, and thats just the directory you are telling it to install into?  Also have you copied the install files to a local directory at the root of a drive?

I have come across some odd issues with the jasper installer over the past few years, so generally what I do now is copy the entire contents of the install media into a folder on the root of an actual drive, such as "C:\jspr" - and then I edit the properties file there etc, then kick off the installer from that folder.  I have had pretty good luck with doing it that way.

Just a thought... let us know.

Also, can you share your properties file with us?

    Thanks,

    Jon

There is a case being worked and the suspect is multiple java in the server and once its sorted we will update the same.

The problem appears to be environmental. Perhaps the effect of the previous java versions still installed on the machine (6,7) or the previously installed jaspersoft 5.6 service that is registered on windows. Let's have these cleanly uninstalled, since windows need a registry cleanup etc. Java 8 and the current jaspersoft install directories looks shortened enough.

    i.e.JAVA_HOME=C:\Java
    JRE_HOME=C:\jre8

But adjust the path variable so that %JAVA_HOME%\bin;%JRE_HOME%\bin is added.

Also the following excerpt from google search on how to deal with the FileNotFoundException in java:

    • If the message of the exception claims that there is no such file or directory, then you must verify that the specified is correct and actually points to a file or directory that exists in your system.
    • If the message of the exception claims that permission is denied then, you must first check if the permissions of the file are correct and second, if the file is currently being used by another application.
    • If the message of the exception claims that the specified file is a directory, then you must either alter the name of the file or delete the existing directory (if the directory is not being used by an application).

But now i am getting error:

Can you please tell me what could be the problem?

    This time they are BNPPF.jks/properties
