  • 1.  How to retain formatting in MSP?

    Posted Oct 12, 2016 03:30 AM

    Hi,

With the previous MSP interface (as it would save the .mpp file with all formatting etc) users were able to retain the formatting/personalisation that was applied in MS Project once an MSP file was opened from CA PPM.

With the new MSP interface the formatting etc does not get retained as its only the data that get exported from PPM.

Has anyone found any tips/tricks to get the formatting in the .mpp file saved to some where on the user's desktop (whilst saving it into PPM) and export it back to the MSP file ? (so that it is retained). possibly with VB macros??

    Thanks

    Hi Shamith,

Here's a couple of KBs, though none of these include any VB Macro tips, but a few ways to work around the design:

http://www.ca.com/us/services-support/ca-support/ca-support-online/knowledge-base-articles.tec1545414.html - This KB shows how to create a custom view and set up MSP so that each time you launch a project, it opens with the default view. (Though it will make the change for all projects)

http://www.ca.com/us/services-support/ca-support/ca-support-online/knowledge-base-articles.TEC1606998.html -  This is if you are using highlighting in MSP. This shows a way on how to workaround the design change to keep using highlighting of tasks.
