  • 1.  Clarity 14.2 and SQL Server 2014

    Posted May 13, 2015 05:22 AM

    Hi,

We are planning to upgrade our Clarity version 13.2 (with SQL Server 2008 R2) to version 14.2.

Reading the documents from CA I see that Clarity 14.2 support SQL Server 2008 and 2012 when it comes to the application database.  SQL Server 2012 is the only supported database version for Jaspersoft.

The most current version of SQL Server is 2014, released April 1st 2014.

I would like to go straight to version 2014 of SQL Server.

Do anyone know when CA plan to support SQL Server 2014?  Anyone which have tested Clarity 14.2 with SQL Server 2014?

As far as I know, SQL Server 2014 is not majorly different from 2012.

There is also the option to set the database in "SQL Server 2012 mode"?

Thanks for sharing any thoughts or experience on this subject.

    /Knut

    Hi Knut,

May be you can ask this question in any of the Office Hours or End of Sprint demos. With 14.2 its not tested so we are not sure of the behavior with MS SQL 2014,

    Hi Suman,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Could you please test if it works or not?

    Thanks

    Knut

    Hi Knut,

Its not about testing, even if it works over the surface we might encounter some problems in the live scenario. Also this is not included as part of supported stack.

    Hi,

I know it's not on the supported list of technology.  I stated this is my original post.

According to my database experts, there really isn't that much of a change of the core functionality from version 2012 to version 2014 of SQL Server.  They recommend me to go ahead with version 2014, perhaps saving me a upgrade cost from 2012 to 2014 in the future.

Could you please inform me of when CA plan to test version 2014 and on which Clarity version (including Jaspersoft) this will be supported?

    Thank you.

    /Knut

    Hi Knut,

SQL Server 2014 is not supported with Clarity 14.2 and it was not tested. In fact, due to the way our application is now checking the database versions it will most likely not work at all with PPM 14.2, since it will detect the mismatch. Please stay with SQL Server 2012 for the moment with Clarity 14.2.

Support for MSSQL 2014 is now targeted for PPM new release later this year. We cannot confirm for the moment which exact JS version will be used.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Nika,

    Thanks for you help.

I hope CA soon will get more aligned with the releases of SQL Server in the future.

We have now tested the upgrade of Clarity 14.2 with the installation of Jaspersoft.

Clarity 14.2 is using a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.

The Jaspersoft DB and the PPM DWH is installed in a SQL Server 2014 server.  We set compability mode to 2012.

Works like a charm.  But it's not supported.
