  • 1.  Is it possible to add new grouping attribute?

    Posted Nov 12, 2014 09:51 AM

Curious to know if it possible to add a value in a list of grouping attributes that is displayed while creating cost plan.

I took a http trace and found that LOOKUP_FIN_GROUPING_ATTRIBUTES lookup is being used to display the list of values, but the underlying data source is from FIN_ATTRIBUTES table.

Do we have any option in clarity UI to add a new value to this grouping attributes by anyway???

    Regards,

    Naga

    Hi Nagarajan,

We can add the attributes in the grouping attributes while creating the cost plan.

You can add it in the admin side under entity and plan defaults.

There are some 11 attributes you can choose from.

    Hey Khavi,

    Thanks for your thoughts.

My question was more aligned on how we can add an additional attribute to those grouping attributes( a new 12th attribute) apart from User Lov1 and User Lov2.

    Regards,

    Naga

    No Naga,

You cannot add any more new Attributes than what is provided out of the box. This is a very common concern that I have heard from a lot of users but this is how the functionality has been designed. Hope that was the clarification you were looking for.

    Additional Information:

The reason you cannot add user-defined (new) grouping attributes to use in the Cost Plans is due to the design as noted.

The Grouping attributes are tied to the Matrix Columns.

So of the 15 attributes in the Matrix Columns, there are 11 attributes that are used directly in the Cost Plan Grouping :

For Planned Values: Charge Code, Cost Type, Department, Input Type Code, Location, Resource, Resource Class, Role, Transaction Class

For Actual Values: User Value 1, User Value 2

The other 4 attributes available on the Matrix Columns configuration page, are at the project level and thus not really needed for Cost Plan Grouping:

Client, Project, Investment Class, WIP Class
