CA Identity Suite - Identity Manager: Managing Custom Workflow

  • 1.  CA Identity Suite - Identity Manager: Managing Custom Workflow

    Posted 01-25-2019 02:40 AM

    Hi,

We are currently developing IAM system using CA Identity Suite 14.2 and we have some questions regarding workflow:

                   1. Is it possible to alter / modify the existing workflow template?

                   2. Does Identity Manager have the capability to handle custom workflow?

                   3. Is Workpoint Designer still needed to custom workflow with this version?

    Thank you.

I am not aware of any new changes in 14.2 related to workflow. IM 14.2 still uses Workpoint and Workpoint Designer. Here are some product documentation links related to workflow:

Workflow - CA Identity Manager - 14.2 - CA Technologies Documentation

Create a Workflow Template for Tasks - CA Identity Manager - 14.2 - CA Technologies Documentation

Workflow API - CA Identity Manager - 14.2 - CA Technologies Documentation

    Hi Kenny,

Thank you for the reply. However, the link

    admin_tools\WorkPoint\docs\designer\default.htm

does not work in my laptop, with a warning saying that the file may have been moved / deleted. Is  there any alternative on how I could open this file?

    Cheers.

    1. Is it possible to alter / modify the existing workflow template?

Yes you can. Better make a copy of the default and work on that as the out of the box processes get updated from time to time.

     2. Does Identity Manager have the capability to handle custom workflow?

Yes it does. You create a new workflow, and then map it to the task you want

    3. Is Workpoint Designer still needed to custom workflow with this version?

Yes it does. Please refer to links provided earlier by Kenny.

I would advise engaging CA Services for custom work which will effectively make things go faster and smoother.
