Graph the amount of alerts generated by a specific threshold

Hello all, 

 Do you know if there's a way in Performance Management to graph overtime the amount of alert generated by a specific threshold. I think I can do that via CABI/Jasper, but I'd like to graph that within PM

We don't have that metric stored anywhere.   We do store in self-monitoring the number of events generated each poll cycle, but don't believe it's per profile, maybe metric family or all metric families.

The only other way would be looking at the events in event views, but no way to count them, I believe,

I think it's a good idea. The data would have a few good possible uses.
