Data Repository System Status in Portal

Hi all,

IHAC who reported the System Status page shows one of the Data Repository nodes as down; I do not access to the system. Does this mean the system is down or that the database is down? What service is performing the check and what is it checking? What does Primary mean in this implementation?

Steve,

It indicates that one node out of a multi-node cluster is down or not responding.

In a multi-node cluster one node is always assigned the primary role. If it goes down a different node is assigned as primary.

Need a user with access to the terminal on the DR nodes, doesn't usually matter if it's the one showing down or not, to check the status of the DB.

If they launch the /opt/vertica/bin/adminTools command to start the adminTools UI, when checking the DB state does it show a node as down?

If they try to restart that node does it come up without further errors?

It is something that should be looked into and resolved. If down, it's unlikely to come back on it's own and is likely to ultimately lead to a full DB outage.
