    Hi Ca Community Members ,

I want to know that what is the difference between taking the backup of SectroServer database offline by using ssdb commands and by saving the database from the spectrum control panel ?

    Regards

    Girish

There are 2 types of backups: online backup and offline backup. Online backup is performed without stopping the SpectroServer application. The offline backup allows saving of models and catalog in two different files. This should be used for setting up a distributed SpectroServer environment.

This section tells you more about backups.

The Save Database option in Spectrum Control Panel, performs either an online backup or an offline backup. If the SpectroServer is running it will perform an online backup. In the SCP, for the offline backup, you don't get to chose to save the catalog or models.
